Pathology

Department of Pathology is fully equipped with state of art equipments with annular case load of 22,000 specimen. The department has five full time expert pathologists, one with more than 21 years working experience to provide accurate diagnosis. The department maintains its external and internal quality control as per NABH standards. The Department has well trained and qualified laboratory technicians for proper and faster processing of samples and providing error less report on time. There is very good interaction in the department and with the physician to facilitate and provide patient care as early as possible.

Services provided :
Histopathology 
  • Histopathology diagnosis of disease provided from tissue biopsies and specimen.
  • Surgical oncology specimens report with complete TNM classification, staging and Grading as per guidelines provided by AJCC.
Immunohistochemistry
  • Process of detecting antigen in cells of a tissue section (Paraffin section) thereby categorizing tumors, directing therapy and assessing the prognosis by using more than 70 biomarkers.
  • Hormonal status ER, PR and Her2 Neu status in Breast carcinoma.
Intraoperative Consultation (FROZEN SECTION):
  • Speceimens received fresh from the operation theatre are processed immediately in cyrostat
  • Margin status in oncology surgery is very crucial and the reporting is done in a turn around time of 20 minutes
  • Assessment of donor tissue for transplant to assess steatosis (fatty change) and fimosis.
Exfoliative cytology :
  • Examination of cervical smear (pap smear) for screening, diagnosis of cancer, as well as inflammatory condition
  • Examination of body fluids eg., Pleural fluid, CSF, Peritoneal and Pericardial fluid for cancer screening as well as for other conditions.
FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology):
  • Examination and interpretation of cells by aspiration from lump and mass from various part of the body either done by physician or surgeon under Ultra Sound guided FNAC by radiologist.

Team of Consultants

Haematology :

Complete Blood cell count, Reticulocyte count, Peripheral smear study and Bone marrow smear study are carriedout.

Clinical Pathology :
  • Urine Complete analysis, Motion complete analysis and Body fluid cell counts are carried out. Semen analysis and Semen wash for inseminations is also carried out.
  • Complete Biomarker panels for exact categorization of lymphomas.
  • Complete Biomarker panels for categorization of undifferentiated and unknown primary tumor.
  • Masters for targeted therapy including C-kit, EGFR etc.
